Energy Supply

Just as filling the tank is part and parcel of running combustion engine systems, charging the batteries is a fundamental process for electric propulsion systems. One obvious difference is that there is no jerrycan or petrol filler nozzle, but there are in fact multiple ways to charge a battery pack including shore power, generator sets, solar panels, wind generators, etc.

All VETUS e-drive motors feature our patented MCV (Motor Controller VETUS) with a Boosted Battery Charge function. With this function, a 24VDC charger can be used to charge up the required 48VDC battery pack for propulsion. This is economically advantageous as 24VDC battery chargers are readily available. Additionally, it makes it easier for boatbuilders to supply a 24VDC electrical network on board.
