Hybrid SET

The M2HSET Hybrid Set brings together the comfort of electric propulsion and the range of a diesel engine in one integrated solution. Switch effortlessly between silent, emission-free electric cruising for marinas, canals and eco-sensitive areas, and dependable diesel propulsion for higher speeds and longer journeys. Developed in-house by VETUS, the system is designed to integrate seamlessly with M-Line 2-cylinder diesel engines M2.13 and M2.18.

At the heart of the system is a compact 24 V permanent-magnet electric motor delivering up to 2.1 kW, connected to the propeller shaft through a specially engineered belt-and-pulley system. This setup is designed to provide efficient power transmission in both electric and diesel modes. When running on diesel, the electric motor also functions as a generator, recovering energy from the rotating propeller shaft and recharging the battery bank at up to 30 amps to help extend electric cruising time.

Designed for both new builds and retrofit projects, the M2HSET combines a compact design with straightforward installation. Existing engine mounts can be reused and the same propeller shaft can be retained, helping save installation time and costs. A dedicated V-CAN control lever provides smooth, proportional control for intuitive vessel handling, while the hybrid system offers the flexibility to cruise electrically in areas where emission-free propulsion is required and switch to diesel when greater speed or range is needed.
